As wedding season tapers off, we take a look at some of the prettiest jewelry trends to walk down the aisle in 2014.
This boho trend was perhaps inspired by Kelly Clarkson’s gorgeous version at her wedding last fall. After seeing so many iterations in 2014—sparkly, subdued, diamond, looks like diamond we’re calling it: Bridal headbands are here to stay.
As back-baring dresses become more and more popular, it was only a matter of time before back jewelry became a thing. A trend that gained momentum in 2014 was back-drape necklaces—the beauty of these accessories is that they still allow the front of the gown to steal the show.
Another way to skirt the traditional jewelry route is to cover up your shoulders with a gorgeous beaded capelet, which wedding blog Borrowed & Blue says came back in a big way this year. These pieces can be worn for the ceremony or make their debut at the reception. (Just don’t expect them to provide a lot of warmth!)
Swarovski creative director Nathalie Colin recently pitched a throwback wedding accessory: “I think brooches are great to adorn a dress that can be very plain. You can put the brooch in a more unusual place, at the waist or on the shoulder,” she told InStyle. “Why not in the back if you have a V-cut in the dress? You can adorn it in the V in the back. I think it’s quite nice.” We couldn’t agree more—especially if the brooch is a precious family heirloom.
